Our guide, John, arrived at our bunk room right on time with a trike to take us to the boat. En route, we stopped at the market where he helped Leisel buy the ingredients for our lunch.

After one more stop to rent snorkel gear we headed to the boat. This was a busy time at the port and we were impressed at the crew’s ability to manoeuvre the boat in the crowded boat “parking lot.”

Our captain expertly navigated the windy seas and brought us comfortably to the first stop: CYC beach.

Next stop was snorkelling at a beautiful coral garden. The waves added a level of difficulty to this snorkelling experience, so John brought a couple treasures back to the boat for those who tuckered out a bit early.

Lunch time! They cooked lunch over charcoal on the boat and we ate while anchored in a beautiful bay. It was delicious! Tuna, squid adobo, mixed vegetables, rice, and fresh mango and banana for dessert.

After lunch we headed for an inland brackish lake called Kayangan Lake. Lots of stair climbing to get to the lake but all agreed that it was well-worth it! The water was calm and crystal clear and we had fun snorkelling, exploring little caves, and Daniel started to practise free diving. Daniel was just able to get to the bottom of the lake; I was too chicken to try 🙂

The last stop was called Twin Lagoon. The first lagoon was pretty, but was basically a mooring station for boats. The fun part was swimming under the rock bridge to get to the second lagoon! You may have noticed we’ve been wearing mandatory life jackets. Some of us found them uncomfortable and found interesting solutions 🙂
